The inaugural Freixenet Rise and Brunch party kicked off in style on Sunday at the Fairway Boutique in Nakasero. Crowds congregated comfortably around the Coco Pool Bar area and crooned to their favourite throwback tunes in an electrifying atmosphere set by The Ssese Nation deejays. The revellers were hyped into a sing-along frenzy from mid-morning till later in the night with the early vibrance of Deejay K’Ru, the experience of Selector Jay and the timeless transitions of Deejay Bryan.
Guests were specially treated to the sensational spinning of Kenya’s DJ Incredible, who kept the crowd on their feet before DJ Ssese brought the house down to a close. The only time the fashionable crowd were not on their feet dancing was when they were snapping selfies in this celebration of forgotten and fond memories in the name of Old School music.
The event was also a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Freixenet’s iconic Cordon Negro. This sparkling wine was served neat and chilled in flutes as well as with mixers for the day’s bottomless mimosas and sangrias.
“Since Cordon Negro was launched in 1974, Freixenet has been the leader and most relevant sparkling wine brand globally,” said David Kakonge, CEO of Blackshowmans Limited, the official distributor of Freixenet in Uganda. “We celebrate this unique milestone for Cordon Negro, which for many decades has been a global icon for multiple generations.”
Camelot Concepts, the masterminds behind this event, strive to create such emotional connections that resonate deeply with people and ultimately become an integral part of their identity. They look to curate events and experiences that unite and inspire by harnessing the universal languages of music and sports. As Ssese Nation proved why they’re the go-to deejay collective where the beat meets the heat, the Kampala leg of the Old School RnB Brunch was a beautiful testament to what such budding collectives and collaborations can do. Anticipation is high from both those who attended and those who were absent so keep your wallets close by and ears to the ground with the next dates expected in November.
