After months of speculation about the dates and venue for this year’s Nyege Nyege Festival, the cat was finally let out of the bag. This year’s Nyege Nyege Festival will be held from 9th to 12th November at Golf Course, Jinja Show Grounds, and the Source of the Nile.
Under the theme ‘Back To The Source’, the festival will have a new home and a completely different setup. The 4-day fete will have 3 conjoined sites, 5 stages and over 300 acts. This will be a tad different from last year’s melee that saw hundreds of people brave the far-flung Itanda Falls location amidst accommodation chaos.
At the launch of the festival, organizers vowed not to repeat last year’s pitfalls. This year’s edition, as per the organizers, will be the first of its kind, from the change of venue to the change of dates. Previously, Nyege Nyege Festival was held in October or September.
To people’s shock, this year’s edition will be held in November. When asked about the sudden change of dates, the festival proprietor, Derek Debru, said November has less activity compared to other months.
